Betsy

Betsy Hackman, Massage Therapist and Receptionist

Betsy has been in the health care field for over ten years, providing massage therapy and rehab exercise programs for various chiropractors. I believe in the marriage of massage therapy and chiropractic to optimize structural and muscular alignment with energy flow through the body. She has four grown children, and an awesome dog named Lacey. She loves to run and hike in Valley Forge (with Lacey), cook, read and knit. Betsy volunteers with Montgomery Hospital hospice on the weekends, and works on completing all the items on her bucket list. She looks forward to greeting you when you arrive at our office.

Robin Ortzman

Robin Ortzman, Yoga Teacher and Yoga Therapist

Robin shares her teachings of yoga by helping others achieve the awareness of self through body and mind. She focuses on the universal principles of alignment creating strength and freedom. In 1999, her chiropractor recommended she utilize yoga to help alleviate her chronic neck and back pain. Quickly Robin recognized the therapeutic benefits of yoga. The practice became much more than just a physical path. Mesmerized by the various styles of yoga that she studied, in 2007 she became a certified Hatha Yoga Instructor. Robin is passionate about encouraging people to find their inner strength, balance and overall wellness! Robin is available for private yoga classes and yoga therapy at our office. She also teaches classes in the local community.

Cheryl Hertzog, Feldenkrais Practitioner and Massage Therapist

Cheryl Hertzog has been interested in alternative methods of healing since she was in her early 20's. After studying biology in college, she earned her massage therapy certificate and studied many different types of massage. Intrigued by movement she explored yoga, Tai Chi, improvisational dance and eventually The Feldenkrais Method of Somatic Education® and became a Guild Certified Practitioner® in 1983. Cheryl continues to offer massage therapy and Feldenkrais and brings her love of the work and her compassion to each individual.

The Feldenkrais Method® was developed by Moshe Feldenkrais, D.Sc., a physicist, engineer, and martial artist, who was incapacitated by an old sports injury and was given little chance of ever walking again without pain. Applying his knowledge of physics, engineering, Judo, child development and learning behavior, he successfully rehabilitated himself and went on to assist many others in improving their abilities to function better. Key to this improvement is the idea that we all have developed habitual ways of moving that impose limits on our fluidity and that by becoming aware of these habits, we can shed them and re-learn how to use ourselves to our full capacity. There are two forms of the method: individual hands-on sessions and verbally guided group movement lessons; both of which use simple but neurologically challenging movements to reprogram the brain and nervous system so that new, more efficient and more comfortable patterns can emerge.

Corina Schad, Awakening Coach and Massage Therapist

Corina began to discover her passion to study the human organism while training in Anthroposophical Music Therapy. Living and working in Camphill Communities for over 25 years with children and adults who have special needs has given her a firm foundation of seeing and experiencing the human being as a whole. Her own journey towards wellness lead her to joining the “Awakening to Presence” training developed by Michael Fleming and subsequently a therapeutic massage training to further deepen her knowledge of anatomy and body work. Corina recognizes the collaboration with a chiropractor as a great opportunity to support the work with the Skeletal and Nervous systems by working on the Muscular/Fascia systems through massage. Additionally she can work with clients on the body/mind connection and support them in uncovering underlying reasons for blockage of energy flow, stress, chronic pain or illness. Corina listens to the client’s body through her hands as well as to the whole person through her presence.

The “Awakening to Presence” approach works with the understanding that stressful emotions, self-sabotaging habit patterns, and limiting thoughts and beliefs are held and stored in the body and adversely influence one’s life and health. Those can be brought to light and ultimately released through a combination of active listening, various methods of inquiry, bodywork, developmental movement exercises and/or energy work. Sessions can be held one on one or as group workshops. It is Corina’s mission to support individuals on their way to Health and Personal growth with presence - through massage, body work, energy work and/or emotional process work. “If we look deeper beneath the pain, beliefs, stress and tension, we can discover our true, original nature.”
