Wayne Chiropractor : Dr. Nancy Tarlow

Debilitating Low Back Pain Lead Me To Chiropractic
Hi. I'm Dr. Nancy Tarlow, but most people call me Dr. Nancy. I am a 1993 graduate of New York Chiropractic College and grew up in Lafayette Hill, about 20 minutes from Wayne and King of Prussia. With much reluctance, I began chiropractic care for debilitating low back and neck pain, but found within a few short months under care, many other health problems that I had experienced most of my life disappeared! The health problems include: chronic environmental allergies, biannual sinus and bronchial infections, weekly tension headaches, GI distress and severe menstrual cramps. My immune system had become very challenged by the regular antibiotics and prednisone I had been prescribed for over 20 years. Most of these health problems totally resolved with just chiropractic care. My energy and feelings of happiness increased abundantly and I knew this was the perfect occupation for me.
My Approach to Chiropractic Care
After opening my practice in '93, I discovered how quickly patients responded to various health problems when their chiropractic care was combined with other modalities, including nutrition, massage therapy and yoga. My approach is each patient is unique as each person is treated with their own plan that might include specific nutrient recommendations, chiropractic care and lifestyle changes to improve health. Understanding how important stress is to maintaining a healthy mind and body, I've incorporated a Stress Response Evaluation into my practice.
Prenatal and Pediatric Chiropractic Care
In 1996, I completed the Webster In-Utero Constraint certification and became a member of the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association. Most of my post-graduate trainings have been in learning gentle, effective and safe techniques for pregnancy, newborns and infants. During several years while I resided in Asheville, NC, I was a speaker at the 2002 and 2004 Asheville Birth Conference as well as a teacher at the DONA-sponsored doula trainings.
Chiropractic, Stress and A Healthy Life Go Hand In Hand
With stress being considered one of the main causes of ill health (even cardiovascular disease and cancer), I've taken a strong interest in helping people with this factor. Learning what causes stress, how it affects the body, and effective measures you can do immediately to combat the detrimental effects of stress are keys to success.
I've recently incorporated the Stress Response Evaluation (SRE) into the practice. The SRE will measure many factors including heart rate variability, skin conductance and temperature, brain wave activity....all things that get affected by stress. This evaluation will give me the opportunity to point you in the right direction as to how to better manage your stress. Additionally, I work with a specific (and extremely gentle) type of chiropractic method that reduces stress in the body. This method can be used on infants to adults.
Chiropractic Methods Used in the Office
Koren Specific Technique (KST), Thompson Drop, Logan Basic, SOT, Myofascial Release and Unwinding, Diversified, and Cranial work are all methods that I use when working with an individual. The decision as to which specific method is used is determined by the individual's needs during each visit. I have also been certified in the Webster In-Utero Constraint technique since '97. Webster is a great method for getting the baby into the optimal position for pregnancy and birth.
We Live The Chiropractic Lifestyle!
I am married with one daughter, whom we chose not to vaccinate. To keep her healthy, she has been receiving adjustments since birth and has never had an antibiotic or OTC medicine. During my free time, I love to spend time outdoors with my family, by hiking, playing tennis, swimming or with friends.
